Following months of planning and preparation, the Locks and Security Monthly Magazine was finally launched in September, bringing professional locksmiths the latest industry news, product updates, technical articles, business improvement features, reviews and essential product information.
With the September issue focussing on Cylinders, the 65 page publication brought readers up to date on all that has happened since bumping and snapping were made public, and gave an insight into what each cylinder can offer to the public and at what cost. Unlike other locksmith publications, the LASM provides its readers with a lively and informative mix of news, people, events, marketing and in-depth articles on ‘key’ subjects. It’s well worth a read.
LASM is written by locksmiths – for locksmiths. Editor Mick Friend’s knowledge of the industry is unrivalled, and includes being author of ‘The Encyclopedia for Locksmiths’, former chairman of the Master Locksmiths Association, and former editor of both Keyways and the Locksmith magazines. And of course he is a highly experienced locksmith himself.
The publishing team also includes Norman Setra, writer and publisher, who will take responsibility for publishing and sales. The third member of the team is John Austen, publisher of Locks and Security News as well as a number of other successful electronic magazines. Both John and Norman have had long careers in trade and technical magazine publishing.
The LASM aims to provide locksmiths with the very best content that is clearly laid out, informative and unbiased. LASM will be sent out free of charge each month to a carefully controlled circulation. It is not intended for hobbyists or those with little or no training. Its aim is always to raise standards and discourage those individuals and companies that damage the reputation of the locksmith industry.
