When looking for the perfect door handle to use on your doors, there are currently many options available in the market. However there are very few door handles available that match the quality, security and price of the newly released UAP high security 2* Kitemarked door handles, which are available in both short backplate and long backplate versions.
When we were in the design process for the high security handles, we were very aware that we wanted to offer the fabricators a door handle that was high quality and ergonomically designed, whilst at the same time eliminating the need to fit a cylinder guard to achieve 3* security. We also wanted an easy to fit handle which can be used by the professional installer offering a security upgrade service.
The UAP high security 2* Kitemarked door handles have been packed with state of the art features, which are not found on other door handles. When looking at the handles, the first thing you will notice is the blind cylinder end, which covers up the cylinder chamber and only leaves the key hole visible. This has been designed to act as an integrated cylinder guard to protect the cylinder from drilling attacks. The blind end also ensures that there is no way the cylinder can protrude on the outside of the door, and leave the cylinder vulnerable to lock snapping – a very common burglary method.
Combining the UAP 2* security door handle with the UAP 1* cylinders will give you a professionally looking 3* security solution for PAS24 doors. UAP have also developed a specially sized 30/35 (65mm) cylinder which is the perfect size cylinder to use on 44mm door blanks with the UAP high security door handles!
A second and very unique feature on the UAP door handles is the self-adhesive tabs which are used on the back of both the internal and external door handles. The tabs are made from highly industrial closed cell foam tape, and are extremely strong once they have set on the door. The self-adhesive tabs are designed to not only assist with easy fitting, but they are also an important security feature which helps to further strengthen the door handle against possible attacks. The tabs also give water penetration resistance between the door and the handle, greatly preventing corrosion, discolouration and premature aging.
We have also concentrated heavily on the materials used to make the door handles. Our Gold Anodised, Silver Anodised, Black and White finishes are made from aero-space grade Aluminium, making these handles truly out of this World! With these finishes, we offer a 5 year inland coating guarantee, and also a 10 year colour fast guarantee, meaning that the finishes will not start to fade.
We also know the current trend is towards High Gloss Gold and Chrome finishes and we wanted to provide the fabricator with a fit and forget option, meaning that the handle can be fitted and then forgotten about without the worry of the handle pitting or rusting in the future which is the downfall of many handles. With this in mind, we developed the Nanocoast high security handles, available in PVD Gold, Mirror Polished and Satin Stainless Steel finishes. These handles are made out of 304 grade Stainless Steel, and have been salt spray test to ASTM B117 for 2,000+ hours! These handles are ideal for the coast, where there are high levels of salt in the air which very quickly rust and begin to pit inferior metals such as Zinc and Brass based products. 304 grade Stainless Steel has good nickel content, and due to this it has excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance in a wide variety of environments. The door handles can be converted to be sprung or unsprung. The spring inside the handle can easily be removed to make the handle unsprung. Each door handle can also be colour matched and suited to other products in the UAP range, so you can offer your customers a fully suited door hardware solution. This includes door knockers, door viewers, letterplates including the brand new iPlate, letterplate shrouds, numerals and letters, and identity card slots in seven different finishes!
