Picking and Decoding the BMW HU58 Ignition using the Genuine Lishi pick and decoder Vol.3

Welcome to Tradelocks guide on using the Genuine Lishi pick and decoder tool to successfully pick and decode the BMW HU58 ignition Vol.3.

Decoding the BMW HU58 Ignition Lock

As mentioned earlier in the guide, we must know which positions relate to axis A and which relate to axis B, this is simple once you know:

A axis wafers are all the odd numbered positions: positions 1,3,5,7, and 9.

B axis wafers are all the even numbered positions: positions 2,4,6,8, and 10.

It’s crucial knowledge to be able to cut the correct key from your decode.

To decode the lock, we must position the reader arrow on each numbered line in turn, and move it along the line in the OPPOSITE direction to the way we picked, so if we picked the number one position down, we must decode it upwards! We move it along the line until it stops – it will stop on a side line that is numbered one to four on the right side of tool. This will be your key cut reading.

So, with our lock in the picked open position, we are ready to decode in the opposite direction to the way we picked. As it’s the ignition lock, we can only get the positions from positions 1 to 10.

Position one reads as a number one key cut.

Position two reads as a number three key cut.

Position four reads as a number four key cut.

Position five reads as a number three key cut.

Position six reads as a number three key cut.

Position seven reads as a number two key cut.

Position eight reads as a number 14 key cut.

Position nine reads as a number four key cut.

Position 10 HU58 ignition

Position 10 reads as a number four key cut. This gives us a decode of:

Position         1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9  10

Reading         1  3  2  1  3  3  2   4  4   4

We must now convert odd positions to A axis and even positions to B axis which gives us a key of:

A axis – 12324X

B axis – 31344X

Where the X is marked, this is wafer position 11 and 12 and is not used in the ignition, as the only reason you are picking the ignition is due to it being changed or rekeyed so it doesn’t match the door. Cut 1s can be put where these are as not used.
